Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The athlete was part of a serious road collision outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his valued colleagues.
Joshua had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, representatives stated earlier on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to ârecuperate at homeâ.
âJoshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,â the commissioner stated.
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the loss of his two dear friends.â
His release from the hospital arrives after the global fight fans offered condolences for the champion in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
