The Liverpool head coach admitted that it's natural for doubts to be asked about his position after another heavy loss against the Dutch champions.
The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the team's worst run after being demoted in 1953-54.
They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing evening at Anfield.
“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received a lot of backing from management,” the coach commented.
“It would be great to turn it around and get a victory naturally but if you are in a managerial role and struggling then it is normal that questions are asked.”
He added, “I am OK with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we improved our results.”
Upon being questioned to expand on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:
“We communicate frequently. They are helpful to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me all the time of the day to say they back me.”
He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I sense the trust. But I haven’t spoken to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”
Slot highlighted recurring weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.
Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the club’s predicament.
“I haven't got the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder stated.
“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”
He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the club I love. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”
“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a phase of this nature with outcomes like these.”
Jones stated, “But we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is gone, we’re always going to battle.”
“We’re going to try to get this team return to its rightful place, show everyone once more what this club is about and why people call it the best team in the planet.”
“But right now, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
