The Division Makes Its Way to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG

The intense world of Tom Clancy’s The Division is being translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A partnership was established to develop a TTRPG that explores the series' post-pandemic landscape. The project has been announced, with a crowdfunding campaign scheduled to launch in the spring of 2026.

"This endeavor aims to deliver the series' unique suspense, strategic depth, and memorable setting to the tabletop, providing fans a new way to engage with The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," states an official release.

Initial offerings will include a beginner's box, essential manuals, a GM screen, figurines, and several premium versions.

Exploring The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this universe, a lethal pathogen known as Green Poison was unleashed in NYC, sending the United States into chaos. As the crisis worsens, society crumbles and violent factions rise, transforming the urban landscape into a warzone. To preserve order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of sleeper agents. This is where the players enter the story.

Development on the RPG has been in progress for about three years, and it is confirmed to be complete. The forthcoming crowdfunding effort will serve as a preorder system to reach a broader audience, specifically in the United States. Production will start right after the fundraiser, with deliveries projected for later in 2026.

An Innovative Gameplay Mechanic: The GRIS System

An early look at the system confirms it employs d10s predominantly through its new GRIS system, encouraging a fast-paced and strategic style. Players use abilities to roll a handful of dice, usually between one and five d10s.

  • Instead of adding results together, players choose a single “resolution die” from the group.
  • This dice is then compared against a target difficulty.
  • Rolling a perfect 10 grants additional bonuses, such as extra damage or enhanced aid.

Engagements Emphasize Positioning and Situational Insight

Battles prioritize placement and situational awareness, mirroring the source material. Factors like cover, height advantage, or line of sight directly influence success chances. This system is designed to favor coordination and smart positioning instead of raw numbers.

A Novel Health System

The way health is tracked introduces a compelling narrative layer. Operatives have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage reduces their capabilities by decreasing the number of d10s.

  1. At critical condition, an operative is downed, but they’re not knocked out.
  2. They may still crawl and perform restricted acts, emulating the "downed" state seen in many shooter games.
  3. Any player knocked down must roll on a injury chart, potentially gaining persistent effects like trauma or mobility-impairing wounds.

A Ready-to-Play Scenario

A publicly available Quickstart Guide will be released in the near future. It includes a pre-made introductory scenario called Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players lead the hunt for a lost doctor squad and work to stop an assault by the violent Rikers faction, who have taken over that NYC neighborhood. Further information and the complete product lineup will be unveiled near the Kickstarter start date.
