Formal charges have been brought against two men following a suitcase robbery where a believed to be irritant spray resulted in harm at the major London air hub.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two counts of robbery and two counts of using a harmful chemical, as confirmed by court officials.
The charges follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two female travelers had their luggage taken after getting out of a car park lift, authorities reported.
A three-year-old girl was caught up in the incident in the event. Several persons were taken to a medical facility and were later discharged.
The incident – described by police as was isolated and deemed non-terroristic – caused disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
